We arrived in Rome in the morning so before checking into our hotel we started sightseeing. Our first stop, the Spanish Steps, a short walk from the hotel.

From the Trevi Fountain we headed toward the Pantheon and found a police band playing American marching songs.
Work was being done on the outside of the Pantheon but inside Sunday mass was being held.
After mass, we entered the Pantheon to look around.
The Pantheon was the tallest domed building in the world for hundreds of years until the domed football stadiums of the 20th century. A view of the hole in the dome which let light in.

We found this horse ride as we started back to our hotel, we walked.
Stopped into Santa Maria sopra Minerva, the only Gothic church in Rome.
We checked into our hotel and a light rain started to fall. During the night the rain got heavier and continued into the next day. We started our second day in Rome with a wet tour of the Colosseum.
